Work Installed At Clemson University

One of These Things Is Not Like the Others

Recently I was invited to hang some work in the office of Richard Goodstein who is the new Interm Dean of Architecture, Art and Humanities at Clemson University. I was pleased to be asked and welcomed the opportunity to work with Denise Woodward Detrich, Director of Lee Gallery at the university.

We began by visiting the office to measure the space, look at colors and think about how work in the room would be viewed. Once we had this information we then pulled work from my inventory and revisited the office work in hand. Considerations included the proximity of a conference table and chairs to the wall where the work will hang and the size of the work in relation to the overall size of the room. I had several pieces which colorwise would have been great but were too large for the room. After some discussion and observation we selected two pieces which function very nicely as companion pieces althought not specifically made with that in mind.

The work installed.

You can see in the photograph that while the wall space is a good size, we needed work that we could hang higher than the backs of the chairs as the table and chairs are very close to the wall. We also felt the blue in one of the pieces worked nicely with the blue chairs.

Another view of installation.

Best wishes to Dean Goodstein during his tenure and a thank you to Denise for her support and assistance with this project.
