Trekking from the Comfort of Your Own Home

Wendy Huhn

The potential for research via the web continues to amaze and delight me.  It is wonderful to be able to sit at my computer and discover or re-discover artists from around the world.

I think we often get stuck when we think about our personal medium and only look at work that is of a similar nature so as I began my web trek today I was happy to come across the inventive and well known work of Wendy Huhn.  Wendy is a west coast artists who works extensively with images often juxtaposed to make statements on current topics or just make the viewer smile.  You can find her website here:

Wendy also has a fabulous list of books and magazines listed on her website you may enjoy.  Thank you Wendy for sharing this list.  It's always informative to see the books that have been important to other artists.

Elana Herzog

Elana Herzog is an artists who works with found materials and paper and creates both wall pieces and installation work.  I believe she resides in New York state.  I have to share this piece with you as it hit a soft spot in my heart.  It's an old chenille bedspread that she has "deconstructed" and installed on a wall.  I remember seeing this very pattern on the beds of my friends when I was a child.   Our bedspreads were not always so colorful so I always coveted these flamboyant spreads.

You can see more of her work here:  http://www.elanaherzog.com/art.html
