SC Fiber Artists: Connecting Concept & Medium

Forest Floor - Terry Jarrard-Dimond
Hand dyed fabric - pieced and machine stitched
First showing in US.

Saturday September 7, 2013 marks the opening of SC Fiber Artists: Connecting Concept & Medium with a reception from 5 - 8pm at the Pickens County Museum of Art in Pickens SC. This ambitious exhibition will feature work from around South Carolina and celebrate the diversity of work being created with fiber.

Allen Coleman, Director of the museum, envisioned this invitational exhibition as one to show the may directions artists are taking with fiber rather than a show focused on the historical ideologies of textiles in the south.  With this in mind he has put together an exhibition with weavings, needlework, quilting, wearables, paper, felting, mixed fiber, surface design, sculpture and installation.
