Working with paper and fabric, participants create multiple compositions utilizing shapes they create in an improvisational process. Compositions are then stitched using piecing and/or raw edge applique. Students begin the process of discovery by exploring their natural way to create shapes. The workshop is planned for beginners-intermediate students.

This workshop focuses on the study and application of one of the basic elements of design - LINE. Dramatic or understated, frantic or languid, LINE can be the focus of a composition or a solid supporting player. Students will learn how to incorporate and manipulate line to tell a story. We will create directly in fabric using machine piecing. Group and individual discussions will be an important part of this class.
