100 Prints for Hunger - An Artist Making A Difference

Terri Dennis is a artist friend who I have written about previously in one of my early Profiles.  She has long had an interest in community and has shown that interest through her art and her activities.

I  recently received an announcement of a new project by Terri titled 100 Prints for Hunger.  The basic idea is that Terri has collected old wooden cutting boards which bear the natural marks of the knives used to prepare food and is now using them to create woodblock prints.  As you scroll through the images you can see the various shapes of the boards, the lines cut by the chopping and slicing that has build up and on top of this Terri has carved or printed images of the "smallest" suffers of hunger in America.

The aim of the project is to support Second Harvest Food Bank/Feeding America.  In order to purchase the materials to produce and frame 100 prints, Terri needs to raise $2,975 by June 23.  She will then exhibit sets of the framed prints in community venues and in galleries to encourage sales.  100% of the money raised will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank/Feeding America.

If you would like to know more about this project or to make a donation to the project, here is where to look:  http://usaprojects.org/project/100 print for hunger.

This is an example of an artist who isn't just donating one piece to a worth cause, but an entire collection of works.  I believe it is worth supporting.

Thank you for spending time at Studio 24-7.  I love hearing from you and Remember....
