SC Fiber Artists: Connecting Concept & Medium

Forest Floor - Terry Jarrard-Dimond
Hand dyed fabric - pieced and machine stitched
First showing in US.

Saturday September 7, 2013 marks the opening of SC Fiber Artists: Connecting Concept & Medium with a reception from 5 - 8pm at the Pickens County Museum of Art in Pickens SC. This ambitious exhibition will feature work from around South Carolina and celebrate the diversity of work being created with fiber.

Allen Coleman, Director of the museum, envisioned this invitational exhibition as one to show the may directions artists are taking with fiber rather than a show focused on the historical ideologies of textiles in the south.  With this in mind he has put together an exhibition with weavings, needlework, quilting, wearables, paper, felting, mixed fiber, surface design, sculpture and installation.

Artists represented in the show:

Paige Alexander
Beth Andrews
Jim Arendt
Lois Bro
Jocelyn Chateauvert
Robin Ann Cooper
Kathy Costner
Mary Edna Fraser
Fran Gardner
Terry Jarrard-Dimond

  1. Great concept for an exhibit. Congratulations on having a piece in this exhibit. Love this piece!

    1. Thank you Mia! I'm excited to meet some new people and see some new work. xo, T

  2. I like the concept for this show as well. So often when I go to a fiber show, especially art quilts, my first and then frequent thought is "okay, why was this rendered in fabric?"

I hope the show goes well.

    1. Thanks Melanie! There are some really good people in the show and I'm looking forward to see what has been entered.
